Well, it's 2008. Thank goodness the holidays are over! I no longer have to hear that "I have to"...send cards, decorate, buy gifts, wrap gifts, visit out-of-town relatives, or bake goodies. I am free to welcome 2008 with open arms and enjoy the quiet and "boredom" of the winter months. Many people dislike winter but I love it!
I never have problems finding something to do. There are dozens of good books on my bookshelf that are screaming for me to pick them up and read them. There is a quilting project that is waiting for me to start sewing (I finished cutting the strips of fabric for the quilt last week). I have supplies on hand to start a counted cross stitch project that I've been planning to make for my step mom for the past couple of years.
No, the problem isn't boredom. The problem is choosing between the 3 projects. Since I have been "planning" on making the cross stitch project for a couple of years, I guess you can see where that activity falls in the list. I've had the material for the quilt since last Spring so you can figure that this is second on the list.
That leaves just one hobby that screams for my attention - reading! What is better than sitting in a comfortable reading chair, traveling vicariously to far off lands, meeting interesting people, and feeling each and every stress of life drop away? In my opinion, nothing beats that scenario.
In fact, I'm signing off now to go silence just one of the books screaming at me to pick it up. I wonder which book will gain my attention tonight...a romantic suspense, a regency romance, a western romance, or maybe a paranormal romance. I guess it's true - there are so many books, so little time.
